Day Fifteen: A Song I Love Singing Along To.

Here are a few fun facts for you.
  • I love to sing.
  • I am not a good singer.
  • I sing along to virtually every song I hear on the radio.
  • If you turn the radio up and then sing at the top of your lungs, you sounds exactly like the artist on the radio. exactly .
  • When we are in the car, everyone sings every song we hear on the radio.
  • Sometimes it's impossible to pick just one favorite!
This is the first one I could think of so it's the winner winner of the chicken dinner.

Day Thirteen: A Song That Reminds Me of a Former Friend.

There was a girl I was friends with for easily 2/3 of my life. There are memories of her everywhere I go. It was a hard lesson to learn that such a precious friendship could be severed over such a trivial thing, but I've learned it. This song is dedicated to my former friend, who I still love very much and would still do anything for.

Day Twelve: The Last Song I Heard

This one's pretty easy. I don't even have to give a real description. Sweet!

ps, I don't think is a real song, but I have watched it about 40 times. I love it so much.

Day Eleven: A Song on the Soundtrack of Your Favorite Movie

Have you seen Pitch Perfect? You probably shouldn't watch it. I haven't seen it in a long time because I'm trying to improve myself, bla bla bla... For real.  I like this song. I like all 'try out' scenes in movies. They're typically funny. Fat Amy. Is. The Best. She is acca amazing.

Day Ten: A Song By My Favorite Band.

This one is a hard one for me! I was talking to my Dad on the phone the other day and I told him that he and mom gave their kids a serious disservice. They introduced us to so much music, so many different genres, it's impossible to narrow down a favorite...song, band, or genre. There is too much good stuff out there!  I have two songs. Are you surprised?! I picked the first one because the name of their group actually has the word "band" in it's title. The second one because who doesn't love them (and their lead singer in this song!)? Seriously, they are the best.  Is anyone else as exicted as I am that Jimmy Fallon has taken over the Tonight Show!?

The Weight -- Jimmy Fallon and The Muppets  Watch this one for sure! Animal is hilarious.

Day Nine: A Song That Makes Me Feel Hopeful

I don't have a song that gives me hope. Here is the song I currently hope to hear on the radio, when I'm driving in the car.

Day Eight: A Song That Reminds Me of My First Love.

I've thought about this post for over a week. This specific post. I've got nothing! Through out my school years I had a few crushes. I didn't have one friend who was a boy, from my past, who is linked to music. Not one. I only love Ken. I know that sounds super cheesy, but he's seriously the best person for me. We are friends. I like him.

Then I thought back further, to when I was a little girl. I'd play with my baby dolls and dream of being a mom and of getting married.  I'm sure it wasn't in that order. I didn't know who I was going to marry, but there is a definite song that comes to my mind when I recall my first memories of being excited to have a wedding. When it would come on the radio, we changed the words chapel of love to temple of
God and it was my mantra. I guess now we've hit super cheesy. I can't be the only girl who did this.

Day Seven: A Song That Reminds Me of Last Summer.

I'm not going to lie. I watch Glee. I've been a fan from almost the very beginning and I've seem every episode at least twice, some more than 5 times. Last summer, when Corey Monteith died, I rewatched a lot of my favorite episodes he's in. This song is from one of my favorite episodes, and it's for sure one of my favorites 'Finn' sang. Watch this video. It's great!!

Marry You originally from Bruno Mars, covered by Corey Monteith.

Day Six: A Song That Reminds Me of a Best Friend.

How is a girl to pick one best friend? I could name ten women right now who I'd be lost without. This song is dedicated to them.

My best friend in 1st grade was Rebecca Swanson. We both had really long hair and I was jealous of her hair things her mom made for her. My mom made those too, but wouldn't make them for me. We moved to Boise in the middle of 2nd grade and I lost contact with her.

My best friend in junior high was Melissa Vail. We went to the movies together, had a few sleepovers and even spent the night in Seattle once, at her aunt and uncle's house while they were out of town. Party time, I tell you. I think we were 14 and 15. We ate ice cream for dinner and watched movies. I saw her a few months ago. I went to her house and we canned stew. She's still super fun.

My best friend in high school was Monica Carroll. We had a love hate relationship. We seemed to be friends from about February to September every year. Then we'd get in a fight and hate each other for a few months, and then be friends again. I'm not sure what any of our arguments were about, but they saved up from having to buy birthday and Christmas gifts for each other. Monica was my first and only experience was missionary work. She joined the church when we were in 11th grade. I don't know where she is now.

Here is a fun fact for you. I have gone to the temple with almost every single one of my dearest friends, going all the way back to middle school. I'm very blessed.

I couldn't think of one person I could dedicate a song to. Since 2002, I've made lifelong friends with quite a few women who I consider the best of friends. They can not be numbered in a favorite lists. Here is the song I dedicate to all of these ladies.

Day Four: A Song That Calms Me Down

When I was in the hospital, hours before Robert was born, I was kind of freaking out. The room was only quiet enough to hear all the noise of the machines. I've never been a TV watcher, so that was left off. Once we realized what was missing in the room, Ken went down to the nearest Deseret Book and bought a CD. It was an Afterglow CD. I don't really like Afterglow, in fact I lovingly call them Afterbirth. (You Are Welcome.) However, the CD Ken picked up was kind of a great one. This is the first song on that CD. I think I listened to it on repeat for about 4 hours. It was exactly what I needed that day.

It's amazing how that song calmed me, and that it did not leave a difficult memory attached with Robert. Instead, it reminds me of how strongly we felt the Spirit during that whole event. I can listen to this song today and all the good from those couple of days in the hospital come rushing right back to me.

Day Three: A Song That Reminds Me of One or Both of My Parents

The song I chose for my Mom reminds me of her because I seriously received a lot of the advice in this song straight from her. She was old school.

I had a super hard time narrowing it down to one song for my Dad. He and I had bonded over music so many times, I could probably write all 25 days about him.  That being said, I chose this one because if you play this song anywhere in the house, he will gravitate to it. I remember when Gina and I were sharing a room. I told her I could get Dad to come to our room without yelling for him. She asked how and I played this song. The intro had barely finished and Dad walked in. Score!

Day Two: A Song That Reminds Me of My Most Recent Exboyfriend.

There are two ways to look at this assignment. I have an exboyfriend that has helped me avoid the true meaning behind day two. Call me a politician. I'll go by Vice President Cheney.

When I married Ken, he left boyfriend status and became a husband. Thus, Ken is my most recent exboyfriend. Phew! Dodged that one!!

Here is a song which reminds me of my latest exboyfriend. It's from the first movie we ever saw, which happened to be while we were on our first date.

Day One: A Song From My Childhood.

We moved from Boise, Idaho when I had just finished up second grade. I was 8 years old. Up until that point, I had had all my birthdays in the same house. On the drive to Oregon, as we were going down the switchbacks of Cabbage Hill, this song came on the radio. It's the first song in my memory that is linked to an emotion. As I was listening to it today, all the worry and sadness and uncertainty of moving to a new 'land' hit home. I wasn't very brave as an 8 year old, especially during the introduction. It tears me up but I still love this song.
